Trueness in city life

Recently I went through some of Arundati Roy’s writings. She was born in a small village of Kerala.

“I think the kind of landscape that you grew up in, it lives in you. I don't think it's true of people who've grown up in cities so much, you may love building but I don't think you can love it in the way that you love a tree or a river or the colour of the earth, it's a different kind of love” Arundhati mentioned.

It is very true. Buildings do not make such long term emotional relationships. I still love the tree which was there in our home yard in which I used to study under its shadow during my school exams. I really loved to study in such a natural environment. Even though I left my hometown, I am living with the reminiscences of its environment. When I visited there last time, It was blessed me to visit some villages. The environment was such Greeny. Thus it made an opportunity to see those beautiful birds which I had never seen before. Each corner of the village had camera trees. So that I am still able feel the smell of them. What I could observe there is that people and the natural environment have a strong relationship. There lifestyle is based on environment. And the people were happy than us (who live in cities). It is because they are not chasing behind something that they don’t have. They don’t believe in money is the only factor that decides their lives. Even after I left from there, I am missing the trueness of the village life and those people’s true love. I feel love in city life is also just for fun, money and something else. It is very hard to find the trueness here. City friends are even like that. When they do meet, they start shaking, chatting and etcs to prove their companionship. When they go to other places, they find some other fun companions and that’s it, the meaning of friendship ends just with fun. City lives go only with saying ‘hi’s and byes. No one really knows who their spirit mate is.

An ambitious run

I keep on running everyday, every minute, every second. Sometimes I am tired, irritated, reluctant, confused and asking myself whether I can finish my run successfully. I don’t know how I would feel if I stop this run in my half way. Each minute I meet new faces and am preparing myself to be not reluctant to face a new life. I am running with my joys, encouragements, discouragements and with the happiness of meeting new good persons and with the confusion of why I met some people who are so far from me and with only the soul of memories of those who I have lost on my way. I could hear some voices while this ambitious run, saying that I can achieve my target. Anyway only thing I can certainly say is that I am not so far from my target. No longer, it may be a few years, I will achieve it. When I started running, I thought it will be so easy to achieve it as I had no idea about how it would be. Thus I did see it only as a small dot. But later on, this dot started to grow. It didn’t take time for me to realize that I needed more energy. On my way, I met incidents which made me so tired, so sad and so discouraged but on the other hand, they all forced me to run solemnly towards my target. There were flowers on my way and also stones which tried to pull me out of my way. So I got wounds but no longer, I had realized these all are the prices that I am paying to gain something. Anyway, now this is the time to run fast as I am very near to my ambitious point. Now it seems like a globe and I could not see that dot which was there when I started running. All the pains are gone. I feel very certain in the trust of achieving this. I am becoming so energetic, so optimistic and so hard working and asking myself how I could change like this. Anyway the answer is I am so solemn in my ambitious run.

Americanization

Today’s business world’s most of the well known heads belong to America. American brands lead all markets. Coke remains a ‘must’ than water for guys who try to imitate Americans. I think, this is not the loyalty for coke and it has become a way of showing their loyalty to America for people who live in those nations which are economically, socially and culturally so far from USA especially for the people who live in third world countries of Asia. Coke reflects the American lifestyle and several etcs. It would be better if we can say ‘Americanizing the world’ rather than saying globalizing. There is no globalizing. It is only Americanizing. We want ipods, iphones, ibangles (the latest Apple’s product) and all other irange products of Apple. We feel proud to say that our role models are Obama, Abraham Lingan, Bill Gates and all other America’s big heads. We watch ‘American idle’ and try to be the first to say that we are the fans of someone who participate in the Programme. We want all what they are doing, we do dream America, we do trust America will bring peace to the world, we do believe Obama will change the world, we want to follow them even if they are doing some rubbish, and are simply Americanizing ourselves. I don’t know how this disease (dream of being an American, imitating Americans and acting as Americans and so on) started? There are some countries which really practice the concepts of socialism and Marxism. Why don’t we bother to make them role models? There are some countries which believe in humanity and the concept of human factor is the best. Why don’t we dream to go there? Why don’t we even consider to think of Japan’s ‘country first, family second and at last myself’ policy? We know only to act like Americans while dating, clubbing and drinking. And I am saying this is more dangerous than AH1M1 as this disease of 'being mad at America' continues to spread each and every minute.

Based on comments

As I got some interesting comments on my article ‘Tamil culture and my view on it’, it induced me to write something about the actual dowry system which was in practice in the traditional Tamil culture and how now it has been changed. There is a great discrepancy between what was introduced and what is being practiced. In the traditional culture, men had to give a huge amount of money and assets to the brides’ families. This kind of a dowry system is in practice in countries such as Kenya and some other. But at the current era, people had changed the actual system which was created and most of them are even not aware of it. Anyhow according to my view, both systems are not suitable to the current world. And a common complaint is there that women belong to bride grooms’ families seem to force grooms to ask dowry. This is somewhat a desecrated characteristic of most women in our society. Anyhow what I am saying is guys are guts less to say that they are never going to do it. If they are good enough at earning and self confident, who else can force them? Only others can influence but the decisions are in your hands.

So bored

Nowadays I am so bored of looking at newspapers and magazines. What is the point of seriously discussing about the x boyfriends of Angelina Julie and about the girls go behind Salmaan and Tom Cruise? I know there are some useful stuffs in magazines. But you may have noticed, mostly front pages would contain a hot shot of a beauty and would be titled in a third class way. Generally the ones who buy these magazines are consciously forced to buy because of those hot topics and shots. So they never touch other serious issues. Simply they are not the targeted customers. Accordingly there is no loyalty for the magazine. If another person publishes hotter topic than you, purely customers will switch to them. Some say ‘this is kind of a promotion’. But how do you say this is kind of promotion for your magazine since you are selling the unknown sides of popular ones? This is just a gossip. Gossips make no useful results. Simply another better gossip provider may lead the market tomorrow. But no longer even he will vanish. If you really want a success in this industry, you have to do a research on who are really interested on reading the issues that you are focusing on. Then you select a target and focus your issues based on them. Also keeping an eye on the changes of your target customers’ tastes will further help in improving. People who buy you for Britney spears or Angelina Julie or who ever, they won’t even bother to loyal you. But if you really offer some value to your readers, then definitely you will have a group of people who always prefer you. Even at the recession times, you don’t need to worry.

Tamil culture and my view on it

In my point of view, culture is common for all human beings. It doesn’t matter whether you are wearing a saree or T Shirt or whatever it is. Whatever you are doing should be in a decent manner. So it becomes a common way of differentiating humans from other animals. Why I selected this topic is because many cultures try to force so many things on part of females and mostly they forget to talk about men. So it makes a doubt on the persons who wrote the rules and regulations and it seems cultures bit stimulate male dominance. The traditional Tamil culture had this feature and now it has been improved a lot. All Traditional Tamil literatures illustrated women as a supernatural being and they made a perception such as women are made only to worship their husbands. And they almost forced several things on part of women and taught if they fail to do, they will get hell after death. The main reason for why literatures stimulated male dominance is because the persons who had written many of those literatures were men since women were uneducated and they spent most of their time inside their homes and died without even knowing the outside world. What I am mentioning here is only suitable for middle class families. Women born in the families of kings and lords had numerous opportunities to prove their talents in polities and other areas. Queens became the advisors of kings and did a lot for arts. On the hand, women belonged to lower class families had an urgency to go outside for work and they helped men in finding sources for their financial needs. Anyway later on, poet Bharathi voiced strongly for Tamil women and against to the cast system. He was first to say women are equal to men and tried to make an awareness through his poems on the point of that women needed education. Anyhow they are the stories of past. Now the situation is changed. But the prime weak points of this culture remain the same. Here the mentionable things are the systems of dowry and cast. Still we are brave less to marry a person from a different cast. Why I am saying ‘brave less’ is because most of us are vulnerable to the society and are spending major part of our lives in asking ourselves ‘what others will think of us if we do marry a person from a different cast?’. Guys are guts less to marry girls without dowry. It is most suitable on part of Sri Lankan Tamils who belong to north and east especially the ones who live abroad. Now a mentionable percentage of us have started to feel like shy when speaking in Tamil and most importantly we started to refuse to introduce us as Tamils and at most cases we forget it is the same to killing our mums. What the funny thing is that the ones who never want to say them Tamils seem to get more dowry and they strictly follow the cast system. So they are not fully westernized and don’t like to be real Tamils and so that they are middle of the road. I have no idea on how to call them. There is no doubt in we are following the Tamils who live in Moricious. So no longer we will forget every single word in Tamil and are trying loose our identity. Anyway what I can observe in Tamil culture is that it has scores of things to be improved and some rubbish to be thrown out. Furthermore what I want to tell here is; there is no shy in speaking in the mother tongue. The best language is the mother language and there is no other option to express your feelings in a best way.

Don’t know how

I hope this moment is pretty good since I am sitting and breathing the freshness of the air and am able to write something and sharing it with you. I have bunches of things to say but I don’t know how. My mind repeatedly goes near to my hometown as I returned from there last week only. The days were awesome and I could replay the past of my life. Those memories are unforgettable and it slightly makes tears in my eyes. I went to some villages. Unfortunately I could only see a few faces and a few paddy fields in those villages. So what happened to those villages? Mostly they were like forests. Owners of those lands may be in Europe or somewhere in this world. There is enough land. There are all resources. But no one is there to use them. It is because north of Sri Lanka is desecrated. People who are inside can’t easily go anywhere even if they have an urgency. They can’t simply do what they want. They must always salute some big heads otherwise they can’t continue their lives. I wonder how would it be if there was no war and no spoil of blood in this land? I have a lot of questions like this. But alas I have no answers for these ‘would be’ questions. As I said earlier, I have a lot to say and my mind is full of questions and it seems to be very hard to express my feelings. My pen has so much of ink and I have a lot to say but am finishing it here.

For my society

It was an awesome day since this day has given me a lot of thoughts. Interesting part is that I am in my hometown so that I could enjoy every minutes of life. Hometown is the ever best on earth if not on the whole globe. I know I can only spend a very few days of coming week in my hometown. After that I need to do things what I normally do and to rush myself with a scheduled timetable. I said before I could enjoy every minutes of life. At the same time I have a lot to worry about. How my people are automated to live or most suitably to survive in a strange way, how war has pushed them to live in a moody manner and to not care what is happening to others. They don’t care to wait for hours and days in cues. They don’t worry about what happened and what is happening and even what is going to happen. They don’t care whoever is dead. They don’t realize our society is being back warding every day. They don’t even bother to say their children what happened to this society and to why we are still searching countries to run in. Anyhow what they need is a good entertainment, good cinema and most importantly they have never realized they need a change. They remain what they were 50 years back. They still believe cast is the only factor that make them best. They don’t realize a lot of people may get food in the huge amount of money that they spend for temples. I am not using this piece to blame my society. I am only sharing my opinions here. If we all care at least a bit about our society, we may achieve more as Tamils in this world.

Goodbyes

‘Good bye’ I really wonder how easy to pronounsate this word is. We always prepare ourselves to say mutter goodbyes. Goodbye to friends, goodbye to college life and to each places that we live and leave our soul of memories, to both lovable and painful memories of past and to some dreams when we realize they will never become real. I wonder about the easiness and the comfort ability that this word has given to hide the feelings of painful farewells. Our mouths easily say ‘goodbyes’ at several occasions but the hearts are unwilling to accept the realities. Saying goodbye is not a difficult task but accepting it as it as is the most difficult part of life. It is just because we are habited to live in formalized way. We feel quiet comfortable when we are with familiar things and persons. ‘New’ things may be interesting but it doesn’t mean that we are happy with them. Meeting a new person or even preparing to have a new life may be the substitutes for the things that we said goodbye. But what I can assurely say is; goodbyes can never make an end to love. Even if we leave a person or a place, we still live with their memories. So the reality says goodbyes never make ends.

Everyone has something not everything

Ya obviously everyone has something. It sounds too logical instead of saying everyone has every thing. This simple thought has further strengthened yesterday. I was waiting for a specific bus in the bus stop which is very near to my home. I used to observe the road until I got that specific number bus. There was a beggar with a torn shirt sitting under the shadow of a tree which was near to the road. No one was even bothering him including myself. At that time, there was a very poor old man came to the road. He also was wearing a torn shirt and was ugly. But he is not a beggar for sure since I had seen him in our road often and I guess he should be a road cleaner. Once each met (the beggar and the other) they both said ‘good morning’ and thereafter they started chatting. Guys with nice shirts and ladies with nice hand bags who were standing over there near to the tree refused to even go near to the beggar (Add Me also in the list). Before, I thought the beggar must be alone and no one is there to talk with him. But he has a friend in his status. Anyway he gets some meal and survives and very importantly he is sharing his feelings with a friend. No matter even if he has no home and who cares there are huge roads in the city and plenty enough shadowy places and good enough persons in his status to talk with him (I mean beggars). I know it is not a blessed or fortuned life but just wanted to tell you ‘everyone has something but not everything’.

Who is responsible?

I just have realized I am responsible for all the things that happened in my life including the incidents that made me happy and also the incidents made me to cry. But there is one thing that I couldn’t understand yet which is why the hell I always forget this simple philosophy and at most times not realizing this logic. Also another truth is we are the only ones who are making opportunities or threats and even fates. This is the time to realize that mind is the barely best tool that determining the hells and paradises. I don’t believe in another life. We all get only one and precious opportunity to live in this earth. So it becomes necessary to make it happy. Every single action that happens around us makes at least a threshold amount of ‘effect’ inside us. Most times we blame the environment for the bad things happened in our lives. But actually ask yourself why a specific incident happened. Is it because of the environment only? Or is there at least a percentage of contribution of you in that action? I am pretty sure you will have at least a small percentage of contribution for things that happened in your life. But I know you may doubt the suitability of this argument at all situations. If a natural disaster took place in your area and because of it, you have lost your relations, and then the blame definitely goes to the environment. But remember most of the natural disasters take place due to the humans’ activities and because of their unconcerned behaviours on environment. So here you might not be responsible but a cluster of persons become responsible who you may know or even not know. We decide our own fates and sometimes others’. If you used to drive your car following the road rules then you save both your’s and others’ lives. But if it is other way round then the fate is also get modified.

Affirmations really work if you are looking for a change

I enjoy reading EBooks mostly in the fields of psychology and business. Yesterday I had some time and just spent a several minutes on reading an excellent EBook titled ‘Using affirmations for positive change’ written by anon writer. It is true ‘affirmations really work for change’. If you are looking for a change in life, then using affirmations will truly help you in doing this. Here I am just mentioning the information and the exercise provided in the book on how to use affirmations. Simple theory behind affirmations is ‘your thoughts reflect your behaviour and your behaviour changes your character’. Whenever you want change on a specific thing, you should raise positive vibrations on it. Let’s imagine you are fat and want to loose your weight. Then you should tell your conscious mind ‘I am slim and fit’. But on every occasion you looking at the mirror you feel like it is not true and therefore it is further stimulating a major doubt on it. Therefore it is better to say ‘I am becoming slim and fit’ and your conscious mind will have no means to doubt about it. Then you should repeat the positive verses several times a day. After a few months (obviously not days as it takes time) your conscious mind will start to transform this affirmation to subconscious mind. After that you will be able to see positive results on how affirmations work. The important things you must consider when practicing affirmations for change are; it is always essential to use positive verses (Ex: saying ‘I am becoming intelligent rather than saying I am not a fool’) and also it is better to use present tense (Ex: saying ‘I am becoming happy rather than saying I will be happy’) and most importantly you should believe what you are saying is true. If you think ‘this will never work’ then there is no point in wasting your time on it. Using Affirmations is just like programming you in a right way. So they work better. Next we will have a look at how they work. ‘Your mum rewarded you every time you did good things in your life by giving you chocolates. So you feel like rewarding whenever you eat chocolates since eating chocolates is connected as a reward in your subconscious mind.’ Thus eating chocolates may make you happy but this behaviour is not healthy if you are trying to loose your weight. So if this is how your subconscious mind influences your behaviour, then why you still have doubt in that you can change yourself by using affirmations. But the only thing here is that you should believe in ‘mind is the best and incomparable tool that influences yourself and therefore stimulating successes and failures of your life’.

The traditional five lands in Tamil literature

Tamil literature is almost based on traditional five lands which represent different lifestyles for each land. What I mentioned as lifestyle is ‘how they got means for their lives and the love contributed to their lifestyles’. Here love refers to the affection and romance between husband and wife and between lovers. First one is the ‘land representing people who lived in and near to mountain areas’. These people had made ‘animals’ as the only mean of living. Girls had pretty enough guys and the life was joyful for those who lived in this land. The second land is dedicated to people who lived near to forests. Since this land had no other options, men joined in territory force groups and soldier services and they were brave wealthy. Thus women in this land always desecrated to wait until their partners return to home. Most occasions were; some returned to home and some were not. Most important thing I must mention here is that there were celebrations for soldiers who returned with victory and meantime entombments also were arranged for those who died in wars. The third land is dedicated for people who lived in and near to sea. So their prime mean of life was ‘fishing and boating’. Men had to spend major part of their lives in sea. Here women spent on waiting for men in seashore until they come back from sea. The fourth land is dedicated to people who lived in park lands so their mean of living was ‘Agriculture and harvesting’. Husband and wife relationship was very strong and they had deep love while people in this land were naturally wealthy as they had no obstacles in gaining and saving wealth with their paddy fields. The fifth land is dedicated to people who lived near to deserts. So these people who lived near to wastelands had no means in finding meals and making their lives. Thus they started mugging from voyagers and from people who lived in other lands. At this juncture, the life was uncertain and women had to worry about whether their husbands had caught or attacked by someone.

Why men are so selfish?

I believe men are so selfish and lazy. I know it is not suitable for all but at least a few of you reading this piece may think it is you. Here the issue is why men are not helping their wives in kitchens. Is there any logic behind this? If you try to escape from me by saying ‘women are good at cooking’ then what about those guys who cook in restaurants? In this fast moving world, it is a must for both men and women to work hard in order to make their lives happy. But I don’t know why men are still thinking kitchens are only dedicated to women. Husbands always try to prison their wives in the kitchens. Earlier days most of the husbands had made the culture as a weapon of escaping from the question of why they are not helping their wives in the kitchens. Anyhow this is never going to be a valid reason for escaping. What I think of why husbands (Not all) are still not helping in the kitchens is because they feel it will spoil their image. Major percentage of men is thinking that their wives are given to cook for them. This perception is absolutely right from an idiot’s point of view. What is the point of being just a man if a woman can earn, cook, care well her family and do all work? I proudly (as I am also a young woman) say we are in a ‘women leading world’ since women remain first at all fields including sports, business, education, military and fashion etc. So a woman is both mentally and physically more powerful than a man. But most terrible part here is that men still want to dominate women by perceiving that they are the best.

Here I am listing what girls are not

Not robots
To make them to do whatever you want

Not chewing gums,
To chew

Not micro awns,
To cook fast and taste
Not angels
To give you all what you like

Finally
Girls are girls
They can’t be any other

Innovation vs capital

Huge capital requirements remain the prime barrier of entering into some specific industries. Thus larger capital requirements result in a huge structure and creates a negative perception on those who are not that financially fit. Starting a business was almost a dream for guys who had unworthy pockets. But nowadays, those business dreams become real with the increased demand for virtual organizations. How many of us know the locations of those organizations which are reaching near to billions and trillions in revenue? Other than the virtual structure, offline businesses also seem to become positive on the view of persons who want to invest in low capital. The most important reason for this change would be because of the positive changes in the customers’ attitudes toward looking for innovative products. ‘Try it new’ products play well in consumer markets and soon they vanish. This is for the reason that customers want to try new things everyday. There is also an issue concerning to this kind of behaviour of customers which is ‘loyalty for products come down but brands may achieve more’. At the current era, guys who want to start a new business seek to invest in innovations rather than locking them in a huge capital. But in some specific industries capital is a must to even introduce innovations. At the same time some businesses require less than a few hundred dollars as capital and they gain much in revenue. If you are an innovative software programmer then you need a computer, applications and a network so then easily you can start to sell it online. So the requirement for huge amount of assets and capital come down and ‘innovative and creative ideas’ become a must to do businesses especially in the fields such as marketing, media and other arts industries. New Medias such as ‘blogs and podcasting’ would be absolute examples for those fields that always seek ‘very less capital and high innovation’.

Exam ghosts

I am having an exam next week. Though the subject is not that tuff, I feel quiet exited. But I think it is calmly ok comparing to those who suffer with exam fevers. I know an exam is not the end of life. Well, no one will want to fail. But in case if I do fail, I won’t bother it too much. Who knows? next exam may be a fortune. There are days in which I had a serious doubt in a question. ‘Is it true that all who get merits in exams are succeeding in their life?’ The answer might be yes or no or at times depends. Anyhow I agree that exams are the opportunities of proving our intellectuality and conceptuality. But I recognize some persons who are practically intellectual but are missing to prove themselves in exams. Guys who believe in the concept of ‘practicality’ are not much concerned about the conceptualities of subjects. I have no experience in my life at any situation where I used a theory which I studied in school. Simple logical question behind success or failure of an exam would be ‘Did I use my knowledge in a right way at the moment when I wrote the exam?’ If the answers is yes then the result would be favour, if not you may have to prepare yourself to face a bad result. But remember, the result comes only for a few hours in which you had written the exam. So you can’t expect the same in the life also. You could be confused in the hours in which you did the exam. But that confusion will not continue for the whole life.

Four reasons for why home is better than your office and two reasons for why office is better than home

Reason one: If you are married, your wife or If not your mum will not bark that as your boss barks when you are late.

Reason two: Your Company can hire another guy easily when you say leaving. There is nothing special in you. But you are special at your home.

Reason three: You don’t have to jail yourself with full sleeved shirts, ties and pairs of shoos.

Reason four: You might be a hot dog at your home but in office, you should be quiet. Otherwise your name will be renamed as a famous ‘hot dog or cat’. .

Reasons for why your office is better:

Reason one: If you don’t like your company then simply you can leave from there. But you have no means to escape from your home. It is fixed and you have to be there even if you don’t like.

Reason two: Your boss might crazily believe in your reputation. But it is not possible at your home. They know you well.

So obviously home is better comparing to the office since there are two more valid reasons for it.

Good or Bad?

Any action or thing has two sides. One side will be beneficial and other one would be discourage able. A strong culture is used as a component of measuring the development of a society. Culture helps to unify a nation or a group of people. In earlier days, organizations looked to hire employees from a unique culture considered to reduce the conflicts and improving the team work. But this practice is almost nowhere in the world with the increasing demand for multinational companies. These multinational companies had introduced the concept of ‘multiculturalism’. The reason for why a group of people always disagree with ‘globalization and multiculturalism’ would be because they have killed the uniqueness of cultures. Globalization has leaded to a situation where some cultures dominating all others. The countries that are economically and politically very strong seem to dominate the global village. Disputers say that ‘the concept of global village might be beneficial for well developed countries. But it is not always beneficial from the developing nations’ view’. But globalization may be a best solution for the societies who are fighting against Slavism. When we see the world as one country, there will be no discrepancies and inequalities in the world. But is it practically true? Practicality of this concept is questionable. Anyhow globalization would let each person to consume products according to the global standards. It further stimulates the concepts of ‘mass customization’ and ‘Just in Time production’ and therefore influencing benefits for both producers and customers on the business view. The exact example for globalization would be
‘A frog lives inside a pod. Later it moves to a sea. So obviously There will be enough food and the life will be more than better from what it really expected. But there will be big crocodiles. So the frog has huge benefits and at the same time it faces huge dangers.’

War literatures and heroism

Literatures are the mirrors of Ages. A literature which was written in a specific decade would reflex the norms of that decade. War literatures become more important seeing that to they say us what happened during wars. But when a war becomes to the form of literature, there is a possibility of overvaluing the truths and hiding the realities. The researchers who are against to war literatures argue that most of the war literatures only talk about the political side of the wars and are forgetting to look at the normal mass side. It is true to some extend because most of the war literatures talking about the political changes that took place during wars and murders occurred to big political heads. The reason here would be; it is very easy to analyze and focus on a well known topic and therefore is stimulating arguments supportive and against to the topic. So it gives a healthy view on researchers’ and literatures’ view. The main weakness with ‘war literatures’ is that they forget to focus on the normal mass society. Everyone forgets that mass society is only get more affected by wars. Thamima Anam’s ‘Golden Age’ is one novel that focuses on mass side of Afghanistan war. This novel is based on the real stories occurred in middle class families during the Afghan war. Traditional Indian Tamil literatures talk more about ‘wars and brave ’. They combine wars and brave. According to Indian Tamil literatures, if a son had died in a war, his mother first looked for which part of his body was injured. Injuring in the chest was used as a symbol of brave for soldiers. Tamil Literatures illustrate ‘A soldier who gets injured in the back part of body’ as less heroic and ashamed to had him as a force. Anyhow according to my view, war literatures somewhat encourage wars as they are written with a purpose of researching them in future. Most of the war literatures exemplify war dominators as heroes. When a person who is in his early years gets reading it, he thinks up the war dominator as his role model and is further stimulating heroism in wars. So researchers and writers should write books based the impacts occurred to mass society during wars. It might be about refugee life or the persons who became physically challenged to continue their life or is about the psychological impacts. Writers and researchers of this generation should make war literatures as a mean to discourage wars and should not stimulating heroism on it.

Why mother is the best?

Ram would be the leader if there is an organization against mothers. He never liked and never going to like his mother. Simple reason is; his mother is too ugly. She looks like a savage. He never wanted to say her as his mother.

Now he has a serious doubt about who really loves him. He just wants to know how much of price others have fixed to him. Ram has created a lie to know it.

He goes near to his son who is about six years:

‘My dear, I need a kidney urgently. Doctor advised me to not postpone it and if I do so, I will meet my demise. You have two kidneys. Can you give one for me?’

Son thinks seriously and says: ‘Dad, I feel really sorry for you. But I am scared to give you my kidney. It will pain. In case if I miss you, I will ask mum to give me another dad who will buy a lot of toys and chocolates to me.’

Ram shocks but realizes his son is just six years old and he doesn’t know the seriousness of it.

He goes and asks the same with his best friend.

‘Oh buddy, I don’t want to miss you. I will give you ten thousand dollars. You can get some money from your wife also. I would consider giving a kidney if I didn’t have a family. I feel sorry for that I couldn’t help you further.’

Ram says the same lie to his wife.

‘Darling, I want you. But if I give you one kidney, I will loose my pretty. I will pay for you. Buy a kidney at any high price from someone who you know.’

Ram is still not satisfied. He doesn’t like to ask it from his mother. Anyhow he wishes to get her opinion also. He knocks the mother’s room door. Mother wonders at him as he never came into her room. Ram has almost decided she will obviously say no.

‘Mum, I know you won’t help me. But I need a kidney. If not I will die soon. Will you ever consider offering me one?’ Ram says.

‘My dearest son, I will give anything for you. You don’t have to hesitate about it’. Mother replies.

Ram shocks. He didn’t expect this from her. He feels bad first time in life for hated her.

‘My son, I want to tell you one thing that you don’t know. I feel glad to give you the only one kidney that I have. I know you hate me because of my bad looking. Our family had no mean to survive after your dad’s death. I had no choice. I knew nothing. In that time, I met a person who needed a kidney. I gave one of mine to him for money. I got enough money from him. So I could easily make you to study well. Now also I am glad giving you the other. I hope you will be not angry with me now’

Mother is the best in the world. You might have other relations. You might love someone but the only person who always loves you is your mother.

Love & Friendship Today

James and Sam were the best friends in school. Friendship grew in the university also. James was interested in fashion designing and Sam was interested in textile science. They thought they can’t study in different universities. So both joined in the same university and then after they went interviews together. It took time for them to realize that they can’t get jobs in a same company. They didn’t worry for that. They started a business in clothing & fashion designing.

James and Sam Company grew rapidly. They became the best in the industry. TV channels and magazines started to talk about their business and friendship. They started to give tips on how can you strengthen your friendship. They became role models of friends.

All I mentioned above is before they met Jancy.

Jancy was too pretty. She was the most popular model in the industry. Both guys started to chase behind her. Both friends wanted to marry her. But this time, they didn’t want to marry the same girl. Fight had started between those best friends. They decided to give Jancy the choice to select one of them.

They went and asked it to her.

‘Guys, both of you are handsome. I don’t mind even if you want me to marry both. Both of you have too much of money, popularity and handsome. But it is better you guys go and let your love to my would-be who is Smith’. She replied.

They shocked. But still they didn’t want to miss her. They went and asked it with Smith.

‘Guys you are really smart. I am also bored of Jancy. It is better both of you get marry her. You are best friends. So don’t fight for her. I have another choice. I can continue with my x girlfriend. So take my best wishes.’ Smith replied.

Small story that you are reading is real. But remember it is not suitable for everyone. Anyhow this is an absolute example for today’s love and friendship.

Spirit of writing

I know writing is enjoyable and it is one way of expressing moods. When I am happy, I write joyfully. When I get angry, my writings blame someone. At times I feel it is very hard to think about a specific topic and write on it. The reason for this would be: I need a good mood to write. So it is not possible always I write in a good way . But a good writer can write at any occasion (Not suitable for me). That’s why a lot of people had written books when they were in prisons. They don’t need a specific mood to write. They just write what they feel at the moment when they start writing. I am just mentioning a statement that I read in a book here ‘A good writer doesn’t look for a topic to write on it. He writes his thoughts in a way he likes firstly and then only he puts a heading on it’. But it becomes unpractical nowadays. Writers are given a specific topic and asked to write on it. Most hard part here is that they are given a word count for it. At times they are asked to write large topics such as cloning, Spacecraft science within just five hundred words. The main disadvantage here is the important points will be left untold. Anyhow it is a good practice if a writer learns to limit his writings within a specific word count. So the readers will not get bored of it. Anyhow it is true mood is the spirit of writing. Mood decides on the success of the writing. When a writer writes with good mood, he can easily say the message to the audience.

Inferiority complex Vs reality

This piece may confuse you. You might wonder what relationship is there between inferiority complex and reality. Yes. Inferiority complex occurs when you are shamed at you. So you may undervalue yourself. When you have inferiority complex, you feel you can’t do anything. Then your talents get wasted. You are ashamed to be you. You feel your life is wasted. You find difficulties in seeing others’ faces. Your eyes start to look down. You get fear to talk looking at the other person’s eye. This is absolutely inferiority complex. But realizing yourself does not come in to this category. Most people get confused of whether they have inferiority complex or real approximation about themselves. Accepting the weaknesses as it is doesn’t lead to inferiority complex. It further helps you to make an understanding about you. A real approximation about yourself makes you to not wasting time in things which you find difficulties. On the other hand, real approximation makes you to illuminate in the fields in which you are interested in. So don’t get confused of inferiority complex and reality.

Hunger for entrepreneurship

We are living in a competitive Age. Younger generation mostly prefers to take entrepreneurship other than working for others. The main reasons for this would be; they don’t need to look for other organizations to pay for them and also no need to limit the life within a monthly salary. Anyone who wants to make a challenge towards progress in life would prefer to become an entrepreneur. At the current era, it is called as ‘ontrepreneurship’. Most guys who had a hunger to become entrepreneurs found the main boundary for their dream was money. But online resources have made a solution for those who were financially vulnerable to start a business. Especially journalism was the field where students found huge difficulties in getting suitable job after completing their studies. But ‘Journalism entrepreneurship’ becomes more popular among media students nowadays. I just got to know News University offers an online course on ‘journalism entrepreneurship’. Journalism students are taught on how to become entrepreneurs. But here the most essential part is being innovative and creative. Why your publications are going to be important if you are just doing the same thing that others are doing? It is true every one will not want to be entrepreneurs. Guys who hate to be entrepreneurs say it is something like paying to buy a headache. In their point of view, they just want to work for well branded companies and getting top positions soon. It might be a true view for those who prefer to be white collared and well respected. But entrepreneurship gives its own privileges. Simple logic behind it would be ‘higher the risks higher the benefits’.

The gifts

This is a cloudy afternoon. I feel quiet pleasure looking at the drizzles standing near to my room window. Today the sun seems to be quiet cool. The sky seems to be slightly reddish. I love this kind of weather. It is not too cold or hot. This is a gift of nature. Gifts are around us and sometimes inside us. Noticing small beautiful things may give big joys. This world is so beautiful, wonderful. Every moment is precious because it won’t come again. I think our ‘mind’ is the best gift in the life as it encourages us in letdowns, stimulating dreams and saves our memories thus helps us to not forgetting the past. We live with memories, breathe with memories and die with memories. Memories might be sweet and at times sad. Imagine one of your dear one dies. But is that all? Do you think your love ends with that? If death can make an end to love, then love will be no more in the world. Even after death of a person, you still love him or her. So how could it be possible? It is all because of the gift of your mind which is memories. Memories help you to make your future more efficient as you learnt a lot in your past and not forgetting them. Memories save your love. You only know the preciousness of them. They are the special gifts of your mind.

Oh Dreams

Today I got up with a cruel dream. A giant animal which I don’t know the name was chasing me in a dark forest. There was no one other than me. That had almost come near to me opening its reddish mouth. I had no choice other than going inside its reddish mouth. I sweated, panicked. Prayed all gods to help me and at that moment I had awaked and realized it was a thrilled dream. I wonder how this kind of a dream came to me. I didn’t watch any thrill movies this week. Sometimes dreams come for no reasons. You see a big bird and the same time you see a dog. At that night, an animal with wings and having a face similar to a dog’s face might come in your dream. You may wonder how this kind of an animal you didn’t even imagine came in to your dream. It is because our brain always tries to connect actions. Actions may have no correlations among them. But our mind tries to relate them. You see a friend in your dream. Next day that friend comes to your home. So you believe that friend came to your home because of the dream which you seen. It is not true. Scientists say there is no meaning for dreams. Dreams are kinds of imaginations which we unconsciously do. But this is all about the dreams which you see when you are in sleep. You may have day dreams. There are no special occasions for day dreams. They may come when you are sitting in a chair or when angering your manger or even when reading a newspaper etc. But they may become true. It is because day dreams become your ambitions. You want them to happen. Thus it leads you to work hard towards it. Have good dreams. Dreams may change your life. Dreams may give you the desire towards a target.

No fear

Let’s think of a situation where you were fear to do a work but after you started the work, you wondered how easy that work was. This happens often to us. We spend major part of life in thinking to do a new work or thinking to make a change. But we are fear to put it in practical. We ask ourselves ‘Will it be suitable for us?’ So the entire life ends with these kinds of doubts for most people. Finally they achieve nothing. Fear is such a desecrated feeling that doesn’t allow you to move forward. This makes you to sitting in the same chair after several years also and wonders why you didn’t change. Imagine you are planning to leave your current job which doesn’t give you much of benefits and starting your own business. But you are fear to take the entrepreneurship. You worry about what will happen to your future if the business looses its capital and closes down. So you just keep on postponing your idea. Do you think you will ever start business? This kind of fear pushes you to prevent changes towards progress. If you wish to do a work, just do it. Don’t be fear. The beginning stages of any change will be somewhat difficult. But later they get easier. If you are following a diet, fist week will be hard for you to continue it. At times you may find the hell in refusing chocolates and sweets. After few days it will be very easy and you will gain its own benefits.

Some thoughts

Friendship

Good friends might not be with you
When you are happy
But
They will be there always
When you cry
to share your tears

Coke

Not just a brand, a lifestyle
Not a mere drink, representative of America
Not Angelina Julie
But
Youth are fans of me

Cigarette

An expert in destroying myself and you

Happy

Don’t search me anywhere
I am inside all of you

Ambition

Follow me
Fight to achieve me
Don’t worry for those you loose
When trying to achieve me
Once you achieved
I will give meaning to your life

Successes behind business giants

What would be the key factor that determines the success of your enterprise? Is it promotion? Is it effective packaging? Or is it setting a high price for your product and thereby enjoying a huge amount of profit? You might be saying yes for all. But the most important task is positioning your brand properly and getting loyalty for it. Loyalty starts when your customers look for you only than any other. So your customers are loyal for you at any circumstance. They perceive you are the best comparing to all competitors. So at whatever the circumstances, you will have a group of people who always buy from you. But it is only suitable for some specific products. how do you do it? It is not an easy task. Let’s discuss about Mercedes Benz. Can you ever expect an upper class guy buying a Maruty? Mercedes Benz is used as a symbol of status. Simply that is positioning. The first thing is you must identify the key characteristic combined with your product and relate it with a psychological factor. For an example if it is a high cost product then you can relate it with status. Then your brand stands for that psychological factor. The people who like that psychological factor will obviously like your brand. But here the success starts when people prefer you than others who offer the same psychological benefit. There are thousands of companies that offer almost same products or services and benefits. But a very few of them are only remembered and given loyalty by people. So they have succeeded in what. This is what known as identifying the target customers. There are millions of people with different cultures and tastes. If you try to target all of them, will it be logical? You will end up with nothing. So firstly you should identify the target customers who are likely to buy your product. Secondly you should combine a psychological value. Finally make it more efficient by promotions and other value added services. In case if it gets loyalty, which will be your ultimate goal. But it is very hard to achieve. Brands such as coke, BMW and EBay had already done that and dominating the world.

Living against to environment, result?

How many living beings are being destroyed from the earth? What happened to dinosaurs and other animals which lived before millions of years? No one has said the accurate answer for this. Some are saying these animals are entirely depleted from earth because of the dangerous natural disasters occurred millions of years ago. Anyhow a few scientists believe dinosaurs had not gone anywhere. They had evolved as birds. But the accuracy of this argument is doubtful. Anyhow the ones who support this argument say birds have some features of dinosaurs. But this can’t be a valuable reason for this argument. Other than dinosaurs, several animals have been destroyed from the earth. A few examples would be mammoths, passenger birds and toddy birds that lived in Moricious Ocean only. These toddy birds were hunt by the people who lived in Moricious for meat. This meat was the favorite food of Moricious people several years ago. At most cases we as humans are responsible for the depletion of resources and other living beings. Animals just hunt for their hungry and fighting for food. But we destroy forests and stimulating the increase of carbon dioxide. We destroy the lives of other living beings. Why it is? Because we forget this earth is common for all living beings. We believe we are the best and always try to dominate the world and thereby struggling with wars. A homo chap ion’s sixth sense should be used to create something and not to destroy. Just imagine how much we pay everyday for everything we purchase. But are we paying to this environment? We take everything from here. Our talks, murmurs, tears and our ancestors’ lives are mixed with this environment. If we are doing something against to the environment then that will be almost same to punish ourselves. It is good if we remember the chief Red Indian’s letter to Abraham Lingan stated ‘flowers are our sisters and animals are our brothers’. We don’t have to pay that much of care to the environment. If we don’t live against to environment that will be pretty enough to save the world’s happy.

Murmur in a dark night

It is a dark night. Darkness gives a slight cruelness to this universe. I observe illuminating stars which are crowd together in the atmosphere. They seem to give goldness to the earth. I worry about the moon. It has lost its half. After two days no one will bother to see it until it gets the whole appearance. We should have saluted the moon. In what ever circumstances, it never stopped lighting this earth.
‘Oh moon you are great. You illuminate the earth when you are being full. When you loose your appearance also you pay maximum effort to illuminate us’
I suddenly remember a poem which I studied in school days. Unfortunately I couldn’t remember the verse but I remember the basic idea behind it and the teacher’s face who taught me this poem in a nice way. Neal Armstrong and other scientists were busy with the project of going to moon for first time several years ago. Most of the public didn’t like it because they thought moon as sacred. Poets used to hind scientists.
One French poet said
‘Oh… what are you going to do in the moon? You don’t have to waste time in going moon. I know your needs. We have enchanting girls, red cherries and red wine in France. You are not going to do anything other than spending your time with girls and wine. So come to France not to moon.’

I just wonder (I know I can’t do any other) how scientists could break these kinds of perceptual barriers when they did it first. But nothing happened negatively. The only thing is we are fear to try something newly. The first barrier is our perception. This perception continues to prevent the success of us and others since the day when human beings started to live in this planet.

Are we using the opportunities?

How many opportunities come closer to us everyday? But are we using all of them? Think of a moment how many opportunities that you have missed in your life up to this moment? Sometimes we don’t think something as an opportunity. But everyday we get chances to prove our talents and live with them. At times we are reluctant to use opportunities imaging they may cause risks. So we miss moments that might change our life. An opportunity doesn’t come near to our windows and say ‘use me. I am going to change your life’. The best victory in our life would be using opportunities at the right time. Time is the important factor here. We should correctly identify the opportunity that best suits to us. But the achievement starts when we use them in the right time. Feel like every morning you born newly and think what kind of opportunities you will face in near future. Opportunities may be the people you meet or the places where you go or a Programme where you may reveal your talents. Small opportunities had made big entrepreneurs, leaders and popular artists. As I mentioned earlier, everyday we meet opportunities and most of the times, we don’t think them as opportunities. Every years, months, days and of course hours we do miss opportunities. So don’t be reluctant to use them. This reluctance makes us to foil our life with inferiority complex. This pushes towards worrying ‘I would be something if I properly used that opportunity that would have changed my life’. Let’s prepare ourselves away from this feeling and start searching for opportunities.

Law of attraction (Get everything by your power of mind)

I spent yesterday on reading an e book ‘Law of attraction. Let your thoughts determine your destiny’ by Sa’Diyya Patel. This concept was new to me and made an interest on it. The basic behind theory of law of attraction is you can get every thing by your power of mind. That means you can decide on your own life. Everything you get in your life is because you subconsciously want them to happen. This is why individuals who are very positive seem to be lucky and get everything they want in life. On the other hand some others who always think negative side of their life get stuck. But is it always true? The example provided in the book was ‘if a child get abused by a person it is not because that child wanted that to happen but that particular person who abused that child wanted it’. Anyhow in my point of view, it is somewhat wrong. If all criminals’ wishes get approved then who will remain in the world? The method provided in the book for how to use law of attraction to succeed in your own life was really great and logical. First step is scanning through the incidents occurred in your life. At most cases you will be responsible for your own fate other than your environment. Accepting your false and responsibility is important here. Secondly you are going to set up your goals and write them in a piece of paper. Writing them in a third person’s view is recommended in the book. For an example if you want to find your soul mate, write in a paper ‘millions of people are living comfortable with their soul mates’. Finally keep that paper in a place where you can easily see it and raise positive vibrations. Vibrations play the vital role here. Positive vibrations occur with feelings such as joy, pleasure and confidence. Being with hundred percent confident will bring anything that you wish to get. If you are going for an interview, make sure that you are hundred percent confident in getting the job. The author says hundred percent confident creates positive vibrations and they ask the universe to bring what you want. It is up to different views to believe it or not. There are arguments against law of attraction. But it is pretty sure that positive thinking breaks all boundaries of life and makes us to succeed in our goals.

It is enough

It is a beautiful rainy morning
I just got up from my bed
Wondering the secrets of this universe
With a cup of tea in my hand
I observe small birds out of my window
They hum pleasurably
They seem to be the happiest in the world
I ask myself why it is
It is because they are not jealous at their peers
They are not lazy to search for their food
They are not worrying for those they don’t have
They are not worried about their status
They feel enough at their present life
This is why they are happy and we are not
I got my answer
This rainy morning has given me a thought
‘What I have only is enough for me’

Practicality of being a bold journalist

Journalism is part of society. Journalism may reveal hidden massacres, hidden stories and histories. Journalism is not just a profession. It is an art of reengineering a society. It is an art of articulating the truths in an ambitious, pervasive and courageous way. But there is a doubt about being a bold journalist when examining the practicality of it. Is it true journalists always say truth? At present era, journalism is used to advertise a political party or some powerful individual. Journalists are fear to be frank because they want to save their lives. They are blackmailed in gun points. They are not allowed to go everywhere. News is censored and free journalism is no more in the world. Of course Europe countries somewhat encourage free journalism but it is desecrated in eastern countries. Anyway a pen is more powerful than a gun because a gun is ever used to destroy something and hide the massacres in the gun point. But a pen is ever used to encourage good things and reveal the truths to the society. Good journalist is a power of mass, representative of development of a society and truths. Journalism is not used to salute any powerful guy in a society and advertise any politician.

Freedom from different views

Major part of this world is dominated by socialism. Societies seem to have a positive attitude towards asking for freedom and being with it. Though we are talking about socialism and Marxism, still there is doubt to what extend there is freedom in countries.

Here are some of my opinions from different perspectives about what a true freedom is.

A citizen
I can go anywhere I want
I can talk, write and share my opinions freely
I am not fear at anybody and not suppose to salute anyone
I can do what ever I want without nose parking others’ independence
I enjoy all my rights that owe to me and performing my duties well

A woman
I can decide on my education, occupation and marriage
I enjoy rights equal to men
I am free to use my talents maximum
I can go anywhere at anytime without fearing about the abuses

A kid
I am right full to study not to work anywhere and say my opinions to the society.

From religious point of view
It is up to me to decide on whether I believe in god or not. I can follow any religion, policy and conviction that I think it is correct for me. I am not forced by anyone to follow a religion and also I am not forcing others to follow my conviction

Cultural view
I can decide on my way of dressing, living and having a life style in a socially accepted manner.

An artist’s point of view
I can use my own style of expressing. I am not forced to use a specific style. I can use a style what my fans expect from me and I think it is the best way of expressing.

Violence for no reasons

Violence is every where. No one is even bothering what was inside Mahatma’s mind. Wars continue for years without an end. Blood becomes cheaper and cheaper and continues to hemorrhage on roads. No one knows why they shoot other. They shoot for money that they got to kill one and some times shamefully doing it as a profession. These days there are no special motives behind murders. If a teen guy is failed in love then he just gets a gun and easily shoots some innocents who are around him at the moment he feels angry. Today’s world believes violence will work than any other. It is something like………..

I don’t know who you are
I haven’t seen you before
I have no angry at you
I have no disagreement with you
I have no purpose to kill you
I know you have dear ones to cry for you
I know you have feelings
I know you have duties to do
I know you are just like me
I feel sorry for you
But
I have to kill you

First days

I know first impression is the best. But I am quiet excited when saying hello first time and always looking for the other side’s smile. Smiles express much. Some smile without showing their teeth and some don’t. Once I talked with a person, it would be very often I get friendly with him or her. Anyhow First days are unforgettable, memorable and of course not revisable. A dear friend’s smiley face at the very first day we met will never leave our minds. Sometimes we like a person when we meet first time and lately we get bored of him or her because of the different tastes that we have. However first days become sweet memories of life. First day at school, first day that we met our closest friend and the first day that gave learning towards something are unforgettable forever. It is true first days encourage us to try a new thing, forget pains of past and feel like new ones. First day of a new year may make us to forget the pains of last year and think of forthcoming future. I believe last days are first days of something. Last day at a workplace might be the first day of another victorious profession.

Moment of death

No genius has exposed the experience of death yet. I wonder how it will be the moment of death. Will it be painful? Will it be fearful? Or will it be a feeling that can’t be sensed? How many of people who have passed away up to this moment would felt their life is good enough up to the moment their death occurred? Some say people who die in accidents and natural disasters may not feel the pain of it because they mightn’t know that they are going to die. But think of those who suffer for a long time to meet their death. They probably fear to meet the demise. However the ones who die for a passion are really great. They might feel the joy of dying for freedom and others. What ever it is, the moment of death will somewhat give the feeling of leaving this world, dear ones and the memories that belong to this life. People who believe in god say our sprites will live after leaving our corpses. But I don’t know to what extend it is true. Anyway according to my view, a good death should give the feeling of satisfaction that I have done something in this world at the moment death occurs.

Inspirations

Most of the times we believe failures make an end to our actions and life. But isn’t it they inspiring us to do something better than previously what we did? Failures become the starting point of another action. They stimulate improving us. But we are fear to meet failures. Illogically we expect success at all. What makes fear to most of us towards meeting failures? It is mostly ego and fear of what others will think of us. It doesn’t matter how others think of us since they are not going to live for us. Meeting failures in a fearless way and making them as inspirations will ever stimulate a big success that we didn’t think. Regarding to my view, failures are opportunities of understanding the absoluteness of us and the ones who surround us. Letdowns allow us to identify who are likely to be with us in our slumps and who try to leave us. So believe in there will be big success after each failure.

Home sick

Staying away from home is really sick full, painful. Nowadays it becomes norm that most of youth are staying away from home and home country for occupational, educational and other purposes. In Sri Lanka war pushed many people to run away from this country and strive with home sick. No one has invented medicine for home sick yet.

When you have home sick it is something like

You have a nice bed
But you can’t sleep
You have tasty and smelly foods
But you can’t enjoy eating it
You have entertainments
But you can’t take pleasure of it
Simply you have to do a lot
But you can’t do anything

No words to thank

I thanked all those who helped me
But I never thanked her
She gave me this life
She woke for my sleep
She taught me how to behave
She cried for my pains
She enjoyed when I smiled
She introduced me this world
She kissed me first
She gave me the touch first
She gave me the hope of this life
She influenced all my actions
She became my role model
But I never thanked her
Because
I have no words to express it

Fashion sick

I love to be fashion. But at times I wondered how people are sick at fashion. It is often to see guys nowadays with unnatural coloured hair and T shirts containing pictures of cruel faces and sometimes devils. The main purpose of being fashion is to show us as nicely looking persons. There are days I surprised at people whether they come from another planet. Nothing is wrong if we have a limit for that. Fashion should not make us to look like savages. The dresses and jewels we wear and other make ups should be inline with our basic colour in complexion and our appearance. Make ups may temporarily beautify a person but will not entirely hide the baseness of her or him. Beauty or handsome doesn’t rely on the colour of complexion and other physical features. These physical features are decided by our traditional genetics. Modern science has solutions to change them but it makes severe impacts on our health. Beauty and handsome come in the way we behave in public, how we express our feelings in public and how we understand the nature and response to it. So these personalities of a person say whether he or she is handsome or beauty.

Ever be creative

Proving who we are to the world is not an easy job as we all think. It requires us to be creative and at times innovative. Doing the same thing what others have already done or doing it with small modifications will never give success. No one will remember the imitators. The ones who introduced innovations will be ever remembered until people remain to live in this planet. Creative thinking becomes necessitate in this competitive world. It doesn’t mean we must do something that we don’t know. Each person is different from each other. All have different talents and of course they become identity of each person. A musician can differentiate himself by the way he sing a song. Some may feel that they don’t have any talents. But it is absolutely wrong. They might haven’t identified it yet. If you can make others to laugh, it also becomes your special talent. This world is full of talents. But only a few people are known and remembered for their aptitudes. It is because they are creative in the way they use their talents. A.R Rahman is the best example for a person who is being creative. Indian music industry players were used to compose tunes in a traditional oriented way few years ago. When Rahman entered into the industry, he used to compose tunes using mixture of traditional and western styles. This made him to become a role model of youth and to gain the award of Oscar. So doing what we know in a creative way will ever say others who we are.

A long life

Success of a person doesn’t rely on how long he or she lives in the world. Success is decided by what he or she did in the life. Sometimes our very nearest neighbor doesn’t know our names. Some have no targets in life. They want to eat much, sleep well and mostly leisure the life. Some feel it is ok if they can get a job just to satisfy their needs. It may be safer. But does it give joy in life? According to my view a job should be ambitious, related to our talents and in line with our tastes not just for that we must have an occupation. A job will either encourage or discourage us. If it is in line with our tastes, it will always create benchmarks in life as we do love it. Great personalities live after death even. When we do something that really we love, that gains victory forever. The ones who succeed in life have done nothing other than they really loved what they did. So they live even after the death. Imagine a very closest person of you dies. What most of us do is cry for hours or sometimes days. After that we only remember her or him in a death anniversary and pray at god. But I feel it would be more appropriate if we do something that will help others to remember that person. It may be a small building, park or even a small fund in the name of that person. So we stimulate another life after death for our closest one.

No logic

A drop of drizzle expresses much to me. It gives a plenty of joy, pleasure and sometimes a kind of sadness. I don’t know why but sometimes I feel sad in drizzly says. At times there will be no logic behind our actions. Showery and cloudy weather seems to give greenness to the environment. I love the enchanting movement where leaves hold drizzle drops. A drizzle drop in a leave always makes a doubt whether it is going to fall on earth. It has two options in which whether to survive in the leave or fall on earth. I also love the bloomy trees in a drizzly day. But those dark clouds are apprehensive. Of course they spend their last minutes of their life. Anyhow they are free. They can go anywhere and no one is to control them. I guess freedom doesn’t allow a long life. As I mentioned earlier it is hard to find logic in life at times. There are days that I wished to be a butterfly. Butterflies have amazing freedom and I am really jealous with them. But they have just seven days. Are those seven days pretty enough for them to enjoy the life? Think of those honey full flowers. They bloom in the morning, attract all us, smell much and die in the evening. But paper flowers live much and they are used for nothing other than to decorate something.

Be thankful

Be thankful for all those you have. As a norm we all want something rather than what we are having now. But we miss to owe thank for what we have. If you have your own vehicle, be thankful for that for saving your precious time from waiting for a crowdy bus. If you find you are not good at something so what obviously you know you are good at some other. If you think you are the one who suffers a lot in the world, it is absolutely wrong. Think of those who die without food. Think of people who remain vulnerable to live. At times those vulnerable people are making milestones in the world. Persons who lost both their hands and legs also have proved that they can dance, sing and even get a PhD. Persons who leftover too short are making benchmarks in film, circus and other entertainment industries. Appearance doesn’t make an impact on gaining victory in life. We all know Charley Chaplin who remains as the best comedy hero of the world. He mentioned in an interview that his most favorite leisure pursuit is wetting in rain. So that others can’t see the tears in his eyes. All have tragedies in their life. But it doesn’t mean we all should always worry about what we missed. Remember if you miss anything; be thankful for at least you have another opportunity to prove who you are. Always missed opportunities teach much to us. They allow to do something better than what we missed. I can remember an incident what I read in a book. When Bill gates was in the university, he found that he wasn’t eligible to complete a degree. So he left the university. It doesn’t mean that Bill Gates failed in his life. Some situations help us to identify what talent really we have. So nothing is wrong if you are thankful for what you missed as they help you to understand the truth.

True love

Can anyone specifically say which love is best in the world? It is really hard to say. But according to my view, mother’s affection is the best. A mother will never hate a child as it is ugly, bad looking or even mentally vulnerable. Mother’s love doesn’t have selfish and ego. Important thing is that she knows both our weaknesses and strengths. She loves us with our weaknesses. So mother’s love becomes real than any other. Think of those who act like loving you just for your money, status and for other benefits that they can gain from you. Some love us for our skills, intellectuality and other capabilities. But when they get to know our weaknesses, they just try to leave us. A true love must accept a person as him or her. Love should be real. True love expects nothing other than love. Think of a shadowy tree. It allows birds to live there, animals to relax there and offers fruits to all. It doesn’t expect the birds and animals to come again there. Of course some birds remember the tree and come again. Some forget all and never return. But it doesn’t make any harm to the tree. It remains to live same. This tree knows that new birds will come there when it blooms and fruits. We are almost like this tree. When we get rich, there will be a lot of people who come closer to us and say hi. But we should know that it is no longer they will say bye to us. If a person exactly knows who truly loves her or him, it will be the best victory that she or he gained in the lifetime.

An interview with Mr. Puppy (popular Street dog)

Mr. Puppy is a popular street dog in a well known city (For security purposes I didn’t mention the city’s name). Here are some opinions from Mr. Puppy’s point of view.

Inter: Are you comfortable with your current place where you are staying?

Mr. Pup: Yeap it is pretty ok. I am staying near to a huge wastages bin in the main town of city. Other than the nosiness of it, we are quiet comfortable.

Inter: I think you meant your family by saying ‘we’. How many members are there in your family?

Mr. Pup: Well; we are four including myself, my wife and our 3 kiddies.

Inter: Don’t you find difficulties in getting food nowadays?

Mr. Pup: We are the ones who eat more than six times a day. Eventhough your people (humans) are not even bothering to give foods for us; they are very good at wasting things. Throwing an expensive food item becomes a way of showing their status. I and my kiddies never went to pizza hut. But of course we are receiving pizzas in our home (place near to dust bin) every day.

Interviewer gets jealous with Mr. Puppy. Anyhow he continues the interview.

Inter: I guess you are much angry with humans. So I just want to know what you think of them.

Mr. Pup: Should I really mention it here?

Inter: Why not?
Mr. Pup: In my point of view humans is the worst race in this planet. We (dogs) and other animals were happy in forests. Humans like you caught us for your convenience and made us as your slaves. We lost our freedom, happiness and other good behaviors that belong to us only.

Inter: What are those good behaviors that belong to you only?

Mr. Pup: When we were in forests, we were known only as ‘dogs’. We didn’t have any discrepancies among us. But when you started to dominate us, you divided us into different casts. And of course this man domination has strongly influenced our race. Think of those rich Alsatians. They don’t even bother to say hi at us. Your status fever has arrived to our people also. Of course your characteristics such as ‘eating without working’, ‘cheating others’ also have strongly influenced us.

Inter: So you are saying that your society had communism and after you dominated by men only you got these inequalities?

Mr. Pup: Absolutely right. But there are youth who like to breathe the air of freedom. A day will come when we gain all our ‘dog rights’. We will go to forests again. There we can live like exactly what we wish to. I mean our society will have freedom, communism etc.

Inter: ok. Thanks Mr. Puppy.

(Interviewer gets shivering. He immediately finishes the interview with just an intention of escaping from the situation)

Change we need

The USA President Barak Obama’s ‘CHANGE WE NEED’ concept got massive success among youth all over the world. Changes become norms in life and of course they refresh us. There are trouble makers who always have reluctant to change and they keep on making obstacles to others who build benchmarks in their lives forever by implementing changes. Change becomes necessitate in life. There is no one in the world who remains same as what he or she was in past. Anyway change must be in a progressive way. Change should always reduce our weaknesses and improve strengths. There is nothing in the world that can’t be done by humans if we are ready to change. If we take any leaders of the world, there will be sometimes no correlation between their past and current life. There are entrepreneurs who born in villages that are not even having electricity. But they believed that they can make a change in their life. Singapore would be the best example for the philosophy that anything can be done by change. A simple SWOT will help us to identify our strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and of course to understand who we are. Thus it is necessitate changing our weaknesses as strengths and threats as opportunities. Then the life will become exactly what we wished to. So believe in there is nothing in the world that can’t be changed.

Techniques in reducing customers’ post purchase dissonance

‘Post purchase dissonance’ this world is very familiar to marketing guys. A successful marketer must always try to reduce post purchase dissonance. Customers often have this dissonance behaviour when they buy products that are highly attractive in their promotional drives especially advertising campaigns but fail to satisfy customers’ expectations performance wise.

Anyhow what is this post purchase dissonance? Assume a customer purchases a product as it seems a nice product with nice packaging. At home he starts using it. But the performance of that product is not in line with that customer’s expectation. So he or she may feel ‘I made a wrong choice’ ‘I just zilch my purse’.

This dissonance makes enormous impacts in the success or failure of a product. Dissonanced customer will not even bother to re buy the product and may also influence others to not buy. A smart marketer or sometimes sales person should always try to reduce dissonance.

First thing is letting customer to know what other benefits are inline with the product. Eventhough product didn’t perform to the level of customer’s expectation; he or she may try to negotiate with the product as it has some supplementary benefits. A product may be ‘health friendly, skin friendly, environment friendly and innovative etc’. Thus these indirect benefits may help to negotiate with the customer.

Some marketers practice sales promotions to reduce dissonance. They offer another free product with theirs. But I doubt to what extend there will be use of it. Of course customers will buy the product as just they are getting another product. But how long you are going to do this promotion? After you stop the promotion, customers will not bother to buy your product.

The best way to reduce dissonance is telling about the benefits that customers gain with your product. So they can be happy with the benefits that they have got instead of what they lost. There is nothing like positioning and branding you in order to be a succeeding business. A good positioning will itself attract customers who fall into that positioning category instead of looking at the product features. Positioning is relied on the positioning tactic. For an example positioning tactic of a restaurant would be ‘truly vegetarian’. So this tactic connects all people who are against to meat and like to save animals instead of looking at the taste of foods and other cognitive benefits such as status orientation and reputation.

Anyhow it is necessitate keeping on doing research in order to know the requirements of customers and therefore offering products according to their requirements. So it eliminates dissonance and stimulates preference and of course loyalty to the product.

Global recession ghost

Global recession ghost appears and says to some industries "I am going to eat you". . Economies find it difficult to even feed them. I guess only only the people show them as good guides to recover from recession and arrange seminars are gaining much here. Anyhow at the end they never say a conclusion for it. It is very often to see an E Book stating that boost your revenue with recession. I don’t understand what it means really. But I am pretty sure when we pay money and download them; the recession starts to our credit cards. It is amazing how these cheaters gain millions while others die because of this recession. Overseas workers from India. China, Nepal and other Asian countries are much affected by this. USA share market reported that the shares are declining in an amazing way. An Indian capitalist in USA share market suicide with his family. The worst thing is he was only the president of share market and invested his money in several sources. Anyhow it doesn't mean that no means to survive. Industry owners of health, education and R&D are still happy since they have inelastic demand. Guys in software industry simply leaded the world few months ago. They kept on earning millions and millions. But nowadays they just stay at home and watching movies and some even using their knowledge in creating viruses and most obviously their policy is " My burdens are blessed to others"

Today is the best day

I have started to believe in today the best day philosophy. As a habit I used to think ‘I will do it later, I will finish tomorrow.’ Anyhow this habit made a lot of obstacles in my life and I had days where I stucked to finish things. Waiting till the last minute to do things is never going to help.

Today is the best day to do anything. Today can change our life. Most of us stay in the past or dream about future. We worry about the past. We worry about the opportunities that we missed. We worry for the things that we missed to do. Anyway nothing is going to happen of worrying about past. It is just like we wait for a train that has gone a far from us.

We dream about the future. Can anyone guarantee that there is a future for everyone? Most of us think that future will be a heaven. As humans we believe that future will give a better position than present. Of course it gives optimism inside us. But is it always true? As I said earlier there is no guarantee for our lives. We must work today headed for a meal tomorrow. We should scarify our sleep of today’s night to have a sleep tomorrow. We should study today to get a better position tomorrow. Future’s musts become today’s challenges. So face today’s challenges in order to gain victory tomorrow.

From an optimistic’s point of view

See the world from an optimistic ‘point of view. This world is full of opportunities. You have a lot that others don’t have. You have food to survive, water to drink, people to love you etc. Think of people who don’t have them and struggle to even survive in the world. We always think about what we don’t have. I can remember a statement said by someone “Compare your facilities with the people who are under your position and compare you with who do more for your society than you.” An optimist can change the obstacles as opportunities. Thomas Alva Edition could not continue his studies in school. But he did not lose anything. He achieved more in the life than the people who studied in schools. Don’t think poverty as an obstacle. Poverty gives a lot of experiences to our life. When a rich person suddenly becomes poor he realizes who love him and who love his money. It gives an opportunity to understand people. Histories say that poor people became leaders of the world. India’s last president Abdul Kalam born in a remote village that doesn’t have even basic facilities such as electricity and schools. But no one didn’t think that he would become as the president of India. There are millions of success stories of optimists. They always think positively. So see the world as an optimist. This world is full of opportunities. But it is in your hand whether to use them or not.

Without a meaning

I write quite after a long time. I feel my mind has gone for a sick. It doesn’t allow me to think about a topic specifically and write on it. I believe more than 30 years old Sri Lankan civil war has come to an end after a long time. But there is no conclusions yet. I can remember a statement which was said by some one ‘wars temporarily come to an end. But the reasons why they started still remain same.’

Civil war of Sri Lanka seems to be same. It took lags of people’s lives. Majority of population affected by this war became vulnerable to continue their lives in this planet. How many people went foreign countries as refugees? Most of them don’t see their relatives for years and years. I also worry about the resources other than people’s lives in North and East of Sri Lanka. Jaffna is known for calmera trees. But it is very hard to find these trees nowadays. Majority of calmera trees were destroyed in military operations.

A war doesn’t affect only human beings. It affects animals, birds, small living beings and even the whole land. This is what happened to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Think of youth who wasted their talents in war. They could have become leaders of any field. This war did not give a meaning for the people who lost their lives within last 35 years. We live in a world that doesn’t give a meaning for our lives. There is no meaning for deaths, fights, blood and even tears.

Full of cries

This world is full of cries. Sometimes I feel cries become meaningless. Nowadays it is very rare to see a person who made others to cry feels sorry for it. Some people cry for hours. Some others cry for few years and some cry for even their whole life. If you notice, it will be the same people who get harms in the life again and again. Think of people who lost all their family members in Tsunami and living alone. I know one gentle man who lost his seven children and dearest wife to tsunami. And the most tragedy is that he was a solemn god believer. Most obviously war took off millions of people’s lives and think of the ones who gave up their families to war.

It is amazing the discrepancies of life of people who live in this planet. Some are demanding for pizza and they can’t survive without pizza, coke, BMW, McDonalds and other brands that they think these are the only things which make paradise in their life. On the other hand, other part of world is dying without having a cup of porridge at least once a day. Still this discrepancy between haves and not haves decide the cries of world. Haves can be money haves, power haves, brave haves or anything and others are not. Always these haves try to dominate not haves. This would be the ultimate reason for why people cry. If these discrepancies can be eliminated, then a new world will be there that doesn’t have cries anywhere.

I can remember a philosophy about cries of life which was said by someone. A baby announces its birth to the world by its cry. This cry makes others happy since it makes sure that the baby is born without any problems. This baby grows up and either stimulates others’ smile or cry. The one who made others happy in his lifetime makes others to cry when he or she dies. But a person who made others to cry makes them to laugh when he or she dies.

Thanks for mobile phones

I think if there is a reason for how people survive in this artificial world, that will be only mobiles. Sri Lankan Tamils are very good at saying hi and goodbye since they have no option. Most of Tamil youth find ways to go abroad just even to survive. Most of the guys complete degrees and even their masters and then they are going abroad and joining as low-level employees. This war made them to lose their ambitions. The guy who invented mobiles must be worshiped. At most times husband will be in Europe or America. The wife will be in Sri Lanka. She might have problems in getting her visa. Sometimes her fate will decide to wait her for more than five years to see her husband after the wedding. So they get a couples package and talks talks talks until the visa comes. Mothers have other options to show their affection. They make dry foods in homes, pack it and then send it to their sons or daughters who are in foreign. So thanks for mobiles and free packages.

A is A theory

Aristotle developed A is A theory few centuries ago. Simple logic behind this theory is that A cannot be something else at any time. If we take gold, it gets changes from the day it was found. It goes to several persons’ hands and ultimately becomes as a bangle, neckless, wedding ring or a neck chain etc. But basically it is gold.

Humans are just like gold. We get unbelievable changes in our life. Sometimes I ask myself is it me? Just think about our past. Mind of a person is the best diary and it won’t tell lies to us. Sometimes we are too different from our past. A person who had an ambition to become as a doctor may be a business man at present. It doesn’t mean that we don’t like our present. Our interests get changes. Values get changes. Our dressings, lifestyle and even the entire life get changes. Beggars become as millionaires. Millionaires become as beggars. There are incidents where the people who loved us start to hate us and the people who hated start to love us.

The latest way that most of the people prefer in order to make them beauty is changing their skins. Think about Michal Jackson. He got a disease in his skin and there were white dots. It gave an ugly look and then doctors advised him to change his skin that distorted his entire colour in complexion. Most of us don’t know that he was a black several years ago. Changing names is becoming as a norm. People change their names as they like. But remember it doesn’t mean that you become as a new one as you change your name, complexion and life style etc. A is A. It can’t be something else. The people who love you, they do love you accepting your pluses and minuses. There is no best art of living like you.

You might be ugly. You mightn’t have any talents. You might feel lonely. You might think that there is no one even to bother you. But remember still you have one thing. There is no one like you in the world. So you have an identity. If you try to imitate anyone, you lose your identity. Simply A is A, gold is gold and you are you. You cannot be anyone. Believe in the philosophy states no one is there in the world that they can’t do anything. So find your pluses and develop them to show to the world who you are.

Memories of our yard mango tree

This June brings me a lot of memories of our home’s yard mango tree in Jaffna. Usually mango trees bring fruits in this month. Anyhow they start to bloom in April or May. Mango flowers are bunched and almost look like a bouquet. Jaffna is very famous for variety of mangoes. Mango lovers have given several names to those varieties. I can remember a few names which are karutha colomban, Wellai colombam, kilichondu, villatu and ambalavi etc. Youth do not bother much about mango fruits. But they are fans for green ripe mangoes. Eating a ripe mango with the combination of salt and chili power gives the heaven in the earth for most of us. Mango thieves are very popular in this season. There are solemn mango lovers who cut schools, colleges and find ways to steal mangoes from neighbors’’ houses. They are experts in extracting mangoes from the tree by throwing pebbles accurately. Sometimes these pebbles break out the window glasses of neighbors and then you can imagine what will happen next. These mango fights, mango funs and mango thieves are very famous in Jaffna.

Here I should mention about the cuckoo birds and crows. Cuckoos don’t know the mechanism of making nests. So they spend majority of their life in mango or papa trees. In April, trees get a greeny look and bloom. Until this April, cuckoos seem to be quiet and don’t make any sounds. But when April starts, they become joyful and make charming hums. We can see their romans in trees. Crows also find mango trees intending to taste their sweet fruits. As these trees are very large and shadowy, they find it comfortable to make nests there. In April or May they start to construct their nests by dried leaves and other wastages. Both cuckoos and crows are supposed to put eggs in these months. Since cuckoos have no way, they find crows’ nests to put up eggs. But the female crow will be in the nest always. Again cuckoos must find a way to cheat the crow. So male cuckoo sits in the tree where the crow’s nest is constructed and continuously makes sound to irritate the crow. Crow gets angry and goes out to chase the cuckoo. Using this opportunity the female cuckoo goes inside and puts the eggs into the nest. Since these eggs are almost same in the shape and colour, crow believes that the eggs are its own. Both these birds are black and almost similar in appearance. So the crow looks after the chick cuckoos without knowing the truth. When chick cuckoos grow up, they make different sounds from chick crows. Then crow realizes the truth and chases the chicks out of nest. The crow will almost intend to kill the chick cuckoos after it realized the truth. Anyhow they will escape from the situation. There are incidents where the cuckoo babies go inside people’s houses and then they are looked after by men. After a few days they will release the bird.

In this month, crows should have started to chase the chicks out of nests in Jaffna. In April, May and June the life will be almost going with mango trees. The nature is undividable from Jaffna life. But we have seriously lost our real life with war. Most of us are staying in Colombo, Europe, USA and of course all over the world and recalling our past. There is no doubt that you are having mango memories. And obviously we do miss them.

Is it the life?

I often ask this question myself. But I couldn’t remember a day that I got an exact answer for this question. Psychology says that a person has two lives. One is the dream life and the other one is obviously real.
There is somewhat a discrepancy between the dream life that we want to be and the real life that we are. How many of us like the actual appearance, voice, complexion, figure and talents etc of us. So what makes this amazing life meaningful?

Life does have adjustments
Life does have rapid changes that anyone didn’t even think
Life does have cries
It does also have joys
For some people it blooms like a flower
For some it makes a nightmare in the earth

We do adjust for our family. We do adjust for our culture. We do adjust for the situations that make our life in most times. Think of people who have lost their life with wars, natural disasters etc. People who believe in god say it as fate. Anyhow the reality says it as life. There is no other word for this. I don’t think that a single person in this planet has lived like exactly what he or she wanted to be. But still the options are in our hands.

Make life more efficient by adjusting a few things
Or
Enjoy the life what was given
Or
Stuck in the middle of dream
And
Reality

What makes us to smile?

It is very rare a person smiles at a peer nowadays. People thing that they are losing something when they smile. Honestly how many us know the name of the very nearest neighbor of our home? There are incidents where we remember the face of a person but not who he is. It makes an argument inside us whether to smile at that person or not? At most situations, he also will be in the same problem. This is the reality that we gained with our modern life styles. Man in this current global village smiles only when he gets money and anything that selfishly satisfy him. But if we ask ourselves that is it the exact joyfulness of our life? No. Then what makes us to smile? There is a thing than money that decides our joy and life. It all depends on a person’s mind set. One can even make breakfast happily with a cup of porridge. But some are not. One can study with a diminishing lamp. Others are not. One can enjoy the nature. Some are not. Similarly one can smile with pain while others are not.
